The players featured in this list cost the Baggies a whopping £94.3m in total, so we thought it would be interesting to see what they actually contributed to the club once they joined.
West Brom aren’t the richest club in England by any stretch and consequently have to spend wisely to bring in quality players, but there have been times when the Albion board have dropped a large sum of money on a player and simply hoped for the best.
You can probably guess who those individuals are the moment you see their names in this list…

#10 Borja Valero – £4.7m
Embed from Getty ImagesWest Brom signed 23-year-old Borja Valero from Real Mallorca for £4.7m in the summer of 2008.
The centre-midfielder was the ninth signing the Baggies made under Tony Mowbray ahead of the 2008/09 Premier League season.
Valero featured in a total of 36 matches for Albion across all competitions, providing three assists, before returning to Mallorca on loan, then to Villarreal on loan the following season.
He eventually made the switch to Villarreal permanently in July 2011.
#9 Shane Long – £5.0m
Embed from Getty ImagesRoy Hodgson signed Shane Long from Reading in August 2011 for an initial fee of £4.5m, which with bonuses eventually rose to £5.0m.
The Ireland international scored eight goals and provided two assists in 34 appearances across all competitions that season, helping the Baggies finish 10th place in the Premier League on a respectable 47 points.
Long would spend three seasons with the Baggies in the Premier League before moving onto Hull City in January 2014.
In total, he featured in 81 matches for West Brom and scored 19 goals.
#8 Victor Anichebe – £6.0m
Embed from Getty ImagesBefore he was signed by West Brom in 2013, Victor Anichebe had spent his entire career with Everton, first being promoted to the senior squad in July 2006. He was regarded as a very hot prospect at the time, but would only go on to score a meagre 26 goals in 168 appearances for the Toffees.
The Nigerian-born striker only scored three goals in his first season for Albion, despite featuring in 25 matches. It was a sign of things to come, sadly, and after appearing in 10 matches and not scoring once, Anichebe was released in July 2016.
Recently, Anichebe had a stint with Beijing BSU in the Chinese second tier but is now without a club.
