West Brom are one of several clubs keen on signing Brentford striker Ollie Watkins this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The news comes after Brentford missed out on promotion following a 2-1 defeat in the Play-off Final against Fulham on Tuesday.

The result means that an £18m buyout clause has been activated in Ollie Watkins’ contract, alerting a wide array of clubs, including the Baggies.

West Brom are in desperate need of a goalscorer to bolster their weak strikeforce ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign, and a player the calibre of Watkins would be an ideal choice.

Watkins has had an outstanding season for Brentford in the Championship, scoring 25 goals in 46 matches, finishing just a single goal behind the league’s top scorer, Aleksander Mitrovic.

Needless to say, if the board have the funds to splash out on Ollie Watkins this summer, Albion’s hopes of staying up will be significantly boosted.
