Defensive Midfield: James McArthur

James McArthur is picked for this spot over Jake Livermore and Romaine Sawyers because of his consistency in the centre of the park – something which both Livermore and Sawyers have struggled with for the Baggies this season.

At 33 years of age, he’s certainly getting on a bit for a player in such an active role, but his stamina appears to be as strong as ever because he carries out his duties to a high standard in most matches and consequently remains a key asset for Palace.

Central Midfield: Conor Gallagher

Without a shadow of a doubt, Conor Gallagher is one of the best players at West Brom and so it was easy to select him for this central midfield role. Since arriving on loan from Chelsea in the summer, Gallagher has adjusted quickly and integrated well with the first team, providing stability in the centre where Albion simply did not have it before. That, along with the threat he poses pushing forward, is enough to make him a more than worthy candidate for a slot in this combined eleven.

Central Midfield: Matheus Pereira

Matheus Pereira absolutely dominated the Championship last season, showing that he was more than ready for the next level; so it should come as no surprise that he’s drawing attention to himself through a string of solid performances for the Baggies in the Premier League. The Brazilian has bagged himself a goal and provided two assists so far in this campaign, and if his chances created are anything to go by, his goal and assist tallies won’t remain the same for long.
