West Bromwich Albion are one of three teams that Sky Bet predict Teemu Pukki will join next, with the Baggies rated at 5/1.

Marginally above Albion is Burnley with odds of 4/1, then favourites to sign the Finland international are Turkish side Besiktas, with 5/2.

However, the rampant speculation that has surrounded Pukki’s possible move to Besiktas was dampened by an update from Sercan Dikme (TV reporter for Haber Global):

Translated to English, Sercan says:

Teemu Pukki is not Beşiktaş’s agenda. There are offers from Pukki to the Premier League. Beşiktaş can neither pay the player’s wages nor hire the club fee. I didn’t even count the transfer fee.

We already know that this is the case with Besiktas, given that they have already lost two of their main players — Burak Yilmaz and Victor Ruiz — after being unable to pay their wages due to the financial impact of COVID-19.

With Besiktas now out of the picture, the race to sign Pukki looks to be between just Burnley and West Brom.

The Baggies are desperate for a striker to bolster their attacking options and Pukki could fit the bill.

The 30-year-old forward scored 11 goals and provided three assists for the Canaries in the Premier League last season, and could be a useful addition to the newly-promoted Albion in their bid to stay up.
